2023 Sans Soufre Tempranillo
Black cherry, black currant, orange peel, menthol, and leather. Swirling brings dried figs, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate, and notes of black pepper, black licorice, and pencil shavings. The mouthfeel is broad, plush, and full-bodied, with remarkable texture, structure, and acid presentation. Tons of dark ripe fruits and earth and spice flavors dominate the mid-palate. Rich and juicy, with powdery tannins and a very layered flavor profile, this Sans Soufre Tempranillo finishes extremely long, with the perfect amount of sweetness and earthy and savory tones. Great now, you can enjoy this fantastic wine in the next 6 years.
Whole cluster fermentation, aged in neutral 500L puncheons for 6 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

About Sans Soufre
Sans Soufre, a French abbreviation for “no sulfur dioxide added,” is synonymous with natural wine. Our Sans Soufre wines undergo a natural fermentation without added yeast or sulfur. A secondary malolactic fermentation softens the wine with a creamy texture. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

"A natrual wine coming from the famed Stoneridge Vineyard, this 2023 Tempranillo offers smoked brisket, wet stone, violets, and shades of tar on the nose. The palate shows beautiful richness and a plush texture with a generous core of smoked meats and black fruits. Full bodied and delicious, enjoy now. Drink 2024-2030."
Gård Vintners is 100% estate grown sustainably at Lawrence Vineyards, featuring eight distinct vineyard sites in the Royal Slope AVA. With elevations that range 930 feet to 1,675 feet and primarily a south-facing slope, Lawrence Vineyards provides a great framework for grape production, while the diversity of each of the locations delivers a high level of complexity to Gård wines. We also farm vineyards on the Wahluke Slope and Conner Lee in the Columbia Valley. Lawrence Vineyards is certified sustainable by Vinewise.org.

Winemaker & Viticulturist
A Chilean with Greek roots, Matías was a Marine officer and Naval Engineer in Chile for more than seven years when he realized that it was time to change the course of his career: In 2005, he started studying Agricultural Engineering at the University of Chile, where he graduated with distinction and a major in Viticulture and Enology. He worked in Chile for a few years and in 2011 he decided to start traveling the world on a quest to learn new wine-making techniques. After several harvests in Oceania, Europe and Africa, he settled down in France, to do his post degrees at the Universities of Bordeaux and Montpellier. He also performed for two years as a Maître de Chai for one of the oldest and most reputable wineries in Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie.
After years of traveling and over 15 harvests, he came to the United States and joined Gård Vintners/Lawrence Vineyards as a Production Winemaker and Viticulturist, and is currently head winemaker for Gård Vintners, Desert Wind Winery, Valo Cellars, and his own label, Massalto. In his spare time he likes to jump out of planes and is a Judo Black Belt.
